Dr. Amato has been a Board Certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist in California since 2005. He has always been fascinated by the science of Medicine and the way the human body exists and functions in nature. He discovered Alternative and Natural Medicine at an early age through family and friends and began his journey into the healing practice of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was also trained and certified in Massage Therapy and Natural Healing at the Center for Massage and Natural Health in Asheville, NC. Dr. Amato completed a Master’s degree in Tradtional Oriental Medicine (M.T.O.M.)at the Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA. He earned the honor of Summa Cum Laude among his graduating class. Dr. Amato has also completed a Doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (D.A.O.M.) at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA. There he trained with Eastern and Western Medical Doctors in an integrated clinical environment. His specialties include Pain Management , Neurology, Women’s Health and Fertility. Dr. Amato also received extensive training in Orthopedics, Gynecology, Dermatology and Oncology in this extensive program.
Dr. Amato traveled to China in 2008 to work as a Doctoral Resident at Yue Yang Hospital in Shanghai, a premiere facility associated with Shanghai University. The Acupuncture in-patient department at Yue Yang Hospital specializes in treatment of severe neurological conditions of the brain and spinal cord including Stroke, Paralysis, Parkinson’s Disease, Epilepsy and Physical Trauma. Dr. Amato also worked in the Acupuncture out-patient departments where the conditions ranged from Headaches, Anxiety and Depression to Cancer, Paralysis and everything in between.
Dr. Amato has completed additional courses in Chinese Nutrition, Tui-na Body and Joint Manipulation, Advanced Deep Tissue Release, Japanese Shiatsu therapy and Medical Qi Gong. Dr. Amato combines the best aspects of all these modalities with Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion and Chinese Herbal Medicine to achieve the best results for his patients in clinical practice. This method of healing is versatile and highly effective as a complement to western medicine in helping patients feel relief of their symptoms and resolution of their conditions.
